The coveted title “Junior
Instrumental Grand Champion of the World” was won in
2006 by a Jamaican!! Nadjé Leslie’s reggae violin
piece mesmerized the 12-panel judges at the 10th
annual “performing arts Olympics” named the World
Championships of the Performing Arts which culminated at
the glamorous Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, August
11, 2006.
Also in that year, Nadjé entered the
Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Festival
Competition, and . She was crowned National
Instrumental Champion 2006 and was awarded 2 trophies
and 3 gold medals for her violin solos as well as 2
golds for dancing with ESOR Dance Company. She went on
to represent Jamaica at the CARIFESTA cultural
celebrations in Trinidad and Tobago.
From the word go, 2007
sky-rocketed- starting with the National Prayer
Breakfast in January. Nadjé played at number of
exciting functions including weddings and even a
marriage proposal! As a result, she appeared in
international publications such as Weddings by Martha
Stewart- Summer 2007, and, Supermodels Unlimited-
March/April 2007. In Jamaica, Nadjé was featured on
the very popular Susan Show on CVM Television in July
2007.
In August 2007, Nadjé
represented Jamaica at the “Culturama 2007” in Tampa and
also in Coral Springs, Florida. She subsequently
performed at the Gospel Show “Caribana” to culminate the
2007 Caribbean Festival in Hartford, Connecticut. While
in Connecticut Nadjé, along with Gospel Ambassador,
Carlene Davis, received a Civic Award from the Mayor of
Hartford.
By September, she was back in
Florida to rock a mega-audience with 3 performances - at
the Air Jamaica Jerk Festival in Fort Lauderdale. Air
Jamaica subsequently summoned Nadjé, 4 weeks later-
October 2007, to the Hollywood Casino in Los Angeles to
woo their customers at a Customer Appreciation and Promo
event.
Nadjé, now a fourteen year old
student of Wolmer’s High School for Girls is pleased to
present her first Album, Violin Girl in Jamaica-
“NADJE VOLUME 1”, launched in October 2007 at the
Terra Nova Hotel by Prime Minister of Jamaica, the
Honorable Bruce Golding. The album features a blend
of reggae, folk, pop and jazz instrumentals. The album
is available from leading stores across Jamaica, both
international airports, and from V.P. records in
Florida and New York.
